Wanda Smith

Wanda R. Smith, 85, of Viola and New Boston passed away June 1, 2019 at Genesis Senior Living Center in Aledo.

A celebration of life will be 11am July 6, 2019 at the VFW in Aledo. Burial will be at a later date in the Viola Cemetery. Quad Cities Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wanda was born February 5, 1934 in Boden, IL the daughter of Elmer and Bessie Havens Hoover. She married Eugene L. Smith February 14, 1951 in Cable, IL. Wanda with Gene farmed in Viola for over 35 years before retiring in New Boston. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, the Viola Methodist Church EDA Freeman Class, the New Boston Historical Society, and the Red Hat Society. Wanda especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed her many fox terrier dogs.

Survivors include her husband Eugene Smith; daughter Pat (Mike) Andler; son Jack Smith; grandchildren Eric (Meghan) Pfanenstiel, Kate (Fred) Pfanenstiel Lindsay, Greg (Stephanie) Smith, and Kalin (Josh) Smith Cooper; and 8 great grandchildren that were all very loved.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; sons Roger and Ross, and her siblings.
